Good news for Twitter fanatics! As of today, UK mobile phone operators will be able to offer an official SMS Retweet service, so you can share the Twitter love on the go.The official Retweet button has only been on Twitter for a matter of days, but now operators such as Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange and O2 will be able to offer customers the same functionality in an SMS Retweet service.

To use the service, customers simply send “RT twitter username” to 86444. So to RT the most recent message from @VodafoneUK, you would type “RT VodafoneUK”. Now obviously each Retweet will set you back the standard network charge or be taken from your SMS bundle, but if you’re on unlimited texts, you can Retweet till your fingers fall off.

After sending the message, Retweeters will receive a free confirmation SMS. Vodafone customers are already able to send and receive SMS Twitter updates and will also continue to receive SMS updates from Twitter free of charge.See here for more information on the Vodafone’s Twitter services.
