Samsung has announced the dual-SIM B5722 touchscreen and C6112 slider phones. First up is the B5722, the more accomplished of the two. The handset features dual-SIM slots, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, microSD expansion, and an LED-flash equipped 3-megapixel camera.
There are shortcuts to Facebook and MySpace (amongst others) and the familiar Samsung TouchWiz Lite 1.0 UI is in place to brighten up the otherwise bland OS. The primary SIM slot is quad-band for GSM and EDGE connections, and the second is just dual-band, although either can be used for voice or data connections, the obvious lack of 3G will result in a fairly tedious browsing experience.
The second handset is the C6112 which shirks the touchscreen route in favour of the traditional slider design. Specs for the device are even more modest than those of the B5722, maxing out at a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, 2-megapixel camera and microSD support. It’s not totally pre-historic though media-wise; there’s a music player and RDS-featured FM radio.
Like its touchscreen cousin, the C6112 features dual-SIM support, with the same quad band GSM/EDGE support on slot 1 and dual-band for slot 2. Unlike the B5722, the second slot here can’t be used for data connections, but both are active simultaneously. Pricing is currently unannounced but GSMArena has it down for a December release date.
